Free sudoku puzzles to print

Pick a level above and the game opens in a new tab with a print-ready sheet: the puzzle on one A4 page, with 19 mm cells and thick lines around each 3×3 box, and the answer on a second, smaller page. Each sheet shows its puzzle number, so the answer always matches the puzzle. Your browser’s print window opens straight away — print on paper or save the sudoku sheets as a PDF.

Sudoku sheets for every level

Easy puzzles give 36 to 42 digits and are ideal for a first printout. Medium gives 30 to 35, Hard 26 to 31 and Expert 22 to 27. The 6×6 sheet uses the digits 1 to 6 and boxes of two rows by three columns.

Which puzzle gets printed

If this browser has an unfinished puzzle at the same level, the game prints that puzzle; otherwise it creates a new one. Choosing a different level starts a new puzzle and replaces an unfinished one, so finish your current game first. To print another puzzle at the same level, open the game, choose New puzzle in the menu, then Print.

Print while you play

Playing on ManyPlay? Open Menu in the game and choose Print. The sheet opens in a new tab and prints from there, so you can take the same puzzle away on paper.

THE IDEA

What you do in Sudoku

Play classic 9×9 sudoku online for free — a free online sudoku game with new puzzles whenever you want them. Fill the grid so that every row, column and 3×3 box contains the digits 1 to 9 exactly once. Pick a difficulty from Easy to Expert, open the daily sudoku, or warm up on a smaller 6×6 grid. Pencil notes, unlimited undo and three free hints per puzzle help when you get stuck, and a wrong digit never ends the game. Sudoku runs in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer — no download needed.

Every puzzle has one solution that you can reach by logic alone, with no guessing. Easy sudoku puzzles start with 36 to 42 given digits and need only the basic techniques. Hard puzzles give 26 to 31 digits and ask you to spot pairs and triples in your notes. Expert sudoku puzzles call for patterns such as the X-wing, the XY-wing or the swordfish.

New to sudoku? Start with an Easy puzzle. Look for a cell where only one digit fits, or a digit that has only one place left in its row, column or box. Turn on Notes to pencil in small candidate digits, then turn Notes off to enter your answer. Your current puzzle is saved in this browser, so you can close the page and finish it later.

Before your next move

  • Check the row, the column and the box before placing a digit — not just one of them.
  • Keep your notes complete: a missing candidate can hide the next move.
  • After each placement, scan the same row, column and box — the next move is often nearby.
  • Undo takes back a move, but it does not give back a hint you already used.

Questions about Sudoku

How do you play sudoku?

Fill the 9×9 grid so that each row, each column and each 3×3 box contains the digits 1 to 9 exactly once. The starting digits are fixed. Work out each empty cell by checking which digits its row, column and box already contain.

Is this sudoku free?

Yes. Every puzzle is free: play online sudoku in your browser, with no download. Each puzzle also comes with three free hints.

Which difficulty levels can I play?

Easy, Medium, Hard and Expert, plus a daily sudoku and a smaller 6×6 board. Easy needs only the basic techniques, sudoku medium adds locked candidates, Hard needs pairs or triples, and Expert needs an X-wing, an XY-wing or a swordfish.

Is there a daily sudoku?

Yes. Daily opens the puzzle for today’s date. If you leave a daily puzzle unfinished, you can come back and resume it.

What do Hint and Notes do?

Hint explains the next logical step and highlights the cell; press Place to enter the digit. Notes write small candidate digits in a cell without committing to an answer. You get three free hints per puzzle.

What happens if I enter a wrong digit?

Nothing dramatic: a mistake never ends the game. Undo takes any step back, so you can return to the last position you were sure about.

Will my puzzle be saved?

Yes, in this browser. Your current puzzle, notes, time and remaining hints stay after a page reload. Clearing site data or switching to another device starts fresh.
